A story of forgetting and remembering
Pamyatayesh is a narrative recital currently in development. Through staging, film, and Ukrainian art song, it seeks to explore what it means to remember and pass on a cultural identity that has been torn from its physical place.

This project will showcase an under-appreciated musical niche. From Stetsenko to Turkewich, Ukrainian art song is rich and varied.
Resources provided by the Association for Opera in Canada made early-phase development of this project possible.
First Steps – the digital artist statement created through Against the Grain's 2021 program – acts as a prelude to Pamyatayesh.
